Hi, I’m from Chile. I like your website and this article, but you got the wrong ubication in your map. There is a province also called Chacabuco near Santiago, but the ghost town is actually far north, in a different region. You should put Chabuco, Antofagasta (different region and province). So, if you want to go there, you should look for a place to stay in Calama city or San Pedro de Atacama (this last one is far more turistic, so it’s also far more expensive). I hope this could help. Keep the good work going

I am from the PR and Communications of Memento Park. First of all thank you for mentioning us on your website.

I would like to amend a detail in your article. You say that Memento Park, due to the flock of foreign tourists to Budapest, has been replaced with a more disneyfied setting. Let me add a little clarification here. Memento Park, as you mention in the first section of your article, follows conceptual plans. These plans were partially completed at the time of inauguration in 1993. Having been operated ever since without a single state support we were fortunate to get a one-time subsidy for the 50th anniversary of the 1956 Uprising and could construct the full scale copy of Stalin’s Grandstand along with the boots and the barracks on the side of the square. These were the only construction works which had taken place in Memento Park in the last 27 years. No replacement of any kind have ever happened at us.

Unfortunately, due to Coronavirus we have lost the majority of our foreign visitors who were the target market for the direct bus. Therefore we do not operate it at the moment. Please kindly add a note on this in your article. Thank you.

We also heard that the yearly number of our visitors is around 40.000 which stands relatively close to the truth.

Your committed work for dark tourist attraction is highly appreciated. Thank you for your visit and for the article you dedicated to us.
